Public health glossary

Our public health glossary will help to inform investment in training and workforce development in prevention and population health.

Public health glossary

As outlined in the Five Year Forward View, the future of the next generation, the sustainability of NHS and our economic prosperity depend on a radical upgrade in prevention and public health.

In order to deliver on this large scale change, it is crucial that all organisations within the health and care sectors work together when developing national policies and resources underpinned by consistent language.

To support this, with our Library and Knowledge Service programme we have developed a glossary of terminology, available below. Together, these terms will help to inform investment in training and workforce development in prevention and population health.

If you have suggestions for improving it please contact us at php@hee.nhs.uk.
