Employment and recruitment

The employment and recruitment workstream aims to improve the recruitment pathway for newly qualified nurses to their first staff nurse posts.

It is designed to attract students to choose nursing degree programmes in London and supporting them to graduation and registration. It is also working to help streamline the recruitment and transfer process for all nurses and encourage the adoption of ‘nurse friendly’ employment practices.

Online standardised numeracy education and assessment process (SN@P)

The online standardised numeracy education and assessment process (SN@P) is for the final year of pre-registration training. Students have a digital certificate of nursing numeracy competence (medicines calculations) that can be shared with prospective employers to avoid any retesting. All London universities are signed up to using the process and implementation is underway.

Student nurse and NQN views on recruitment and first destination posts

We are currently looking for universities to take part in focus groups looking at the recruitment process experience for final year students and newly qualified nurses. We would also like to hear about aspirations for first nursing posts. We have already held successful groups at the University of Hertfordshire and Kingston University.
