News flash – CapitalNurse retention update

CapitalNurse has launched two free-to-use tools to help nursing retention and career development. The CapitalNurse Digital Career Framework and the CapitalNurse Preceptorship Framework can be used by all nurses in all settings.

London is a great place to be a nurse and an exciting place to live, with a wealth of opportunities across many healthcare settings.

CapitalNurse was established in July 2015 by the London Chief Nurse and the Health Education England Regional Director and is jointly sponsored by Health Education England, NHS England and NHS Improvement.

We are here to make sure we get nursing right for London ensuring that:

  • there is the right nursing workforce in the capital
  • our workforce has the rights skills
  • our workforce is in the right places
  • all nurses are working to deliver excellence.

We have a specific set of objectives which are to:

  • Have an-going supply of people choosing a training route into nursing, and access to further training beyond registration, so that we have appropriately skilled and motivated workforce to meet the changing requirements of healthcare in London
  • Develop efficient and effective recruitment, retention and career development structures that deliver high quality, person-centered care across the capital
  • Energise nurses and those working in nursing workforce activities by engaging in ‘collective’ action and to evidence the impact using data and narrative stories
  • Create a positive and inspirational image of nursing in London

We will do this by bringing London’s nursing leaders together enabling and supporting them to create sustainable solutions for themselves and measuring the impact of their interventions.

The core driving force are provider Directors of Nursing and HR Directors, Health Education England local offices, NHS England, CCG Nurse Leads, NHS Improvement, nurse education providers, trade unions, professional organisations and other key stakeholders.
