Maximising Leadership in the Pre-Registration Student Curricula Research
Our ambition is to work with our Universities to develop, champion and spread best practice in pre-registration leadership development so that our newly qualified healthcare workforce are entering the workforce with the leadership and service improvement skills at the start of their careers, rather than providing them with leadership development in retrospect having obtained a first-time leadership or management position.
We have undertaken research in partnership with our Universities and are now beginning to identify what good looks like in terms of developing our undergraduate pre-registration students leadership skills. Our aim is for this work to spring-board into wider research and practice with a view toward identifying helpful pre-registration leadership development standards, ready for when our University partners begin to re-develop curricula.
This will enable our multi-professional student population to enter the professional healthcare workforce already having started their professional, personal and continual leadership development journeys, reducing the need for leadership development later on in their careers and ultimately enhancing our return on investment in leadership development.
