Working together across the South

Working together across the South

Workforce education and development challenges often require local solutions. Sometimes the best outcomes can be achieved through collaboration. And it is always beneficial to share good practice.

The HEE (South) Director of Education Quality and his team work with HEE colleagues in the South West, Thames Valley and Wessex, to identify and support areas of work where South-wide collaboration and sharing makes sense. These include Library and Knowledge Services, and eLearning, and the areas below.

Members of the HEE South DEQ Team also lead on a range of national work programmes, where national collaboration makes sense. Examples include education for dementia care, and reducing student attrition from education programmes.

Advanced Practice

Changes and challenges in healthcare have led to the need for new advanced clinical practice roles, which span traditional professional boundaries. We are seeking south-wide consistency in the development of these roles.

End-of-Life Care

We are rolling out a networked approach to end-of-life care education, using nationally agreed competencies to ensure that patients in the South receive the best possible care.

Pharmacy Education

There is widespread agreement that the most cost-effective way to ensure the South’s pharmacy workforce has the right skills and competencies is by developing a common approach to undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy education.

Working with Vanguards

The new models of care described in the NHS Five Year Forward View are being piloted at five sites across the South.  We are working with the organisations involved to provide joined-up guidance and support in relation to workforce and education, and to promote sharing of learning.
