Membership councils

Health Education England, working across the south west, is a membership organisation whose purpose is to develop the local healthcare workforce to deliver services to patients with skill and compassion.

Health Education England, working across the south west, engages with its stakeholders through two membership councils:

  • The West of England Membership Council covering the north of the area (Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset, Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire)
  • The South West Peninsula Membership Council covering the southern area (Cornwall, Devon and Somerset).

The membership councils include representatives from NHS trusts and private healthcare providers, local authorities and education providers.

The purpose of each membership council is to ensure the views of members are properly reflected in the plans and priorities of Health Education England in the south west and to generate ideas for transformational change in the healthcare workforce.
