Team Up is an exciting, innovative health programme, which involves brokering partnerships between multidisciplinary teams of health professionals in training and voluntary organisations to deliver sustainable health and wellbeing projects for disadvantaged communities across London. Delivered by HEE's south London team, this innovative, London-wide volunteering programme for trainees and students is now in it's fourth round.
Over the last three years, Team Up has brought together over 60 voluntary teams with community organisations to form health education partnerships and complete a number of fantastic projects.
This year, Team Up involves an even wider range of healthcare professions than ever before. It is currently supporting over 100 volunteers on 20 health and wellbeing projects within a wide variety of community organisations across London.
An evaluation of Team Up 2014/15 revealed that volunteers gained a great deal from their involvement in Team Up projects, including:
- Opportunities to work with people in the community
- Understanding the role and operation of third sector organisations
- Using teamwork and communication skills across sectors, disciplines and professional boundaries
- Gaining experience in project management
- Improving knowledge of public health
- Gaining technical skills
