Work Based Education Facilitator (WBEF) network
The Work Based Education Facilitator networks mission statement is:
“Reshaping the future of care through the development of the Assistant Practitioner (AP) role"
The WBEF network is here to support managers to consider the benefits and impact that the AP will have on their service. As well as providing practical advice on the funding process.
Organisations interested in developing the AP role will need to consider:
- the scope of the AP role and competencies required
- what is the service need for the AP role
- what will be the benefit and impact of the AP role
- does the practice area have the infrastructure to implement and develop the AP role?
The WBEF network provides high quality support and guidance for TAPs, their mentors and managers linking between the university and the work place. They support health and social care organisations across the North West in the development of AP roles based on service need.
The network is a partnership development between the Health Education England North West office and UHSM academy. The network consists of three multi-disciplinary teams of WBEFs covering the three North West regions of Greater Manchester, Cumbria & Lancashire and Cheshire & Merseyside. Each member of the team is employed by UHSM academy then hosted within a provider organisation.
