Reshaping the community workforce in Derbyshire
A project has been commissioned by the Local Education and Training Council (LETC) and Health Education England in the East Midlands (HEE EM) across Derby and Derbyshire to support commissioners and providers in their understanding of the requirements for the workforce to support the changing needs of our population.
This workstream, Reshaping the Community Workforce, is being led by Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS) on behalf of the Health and Social care community, and has commissioned Whole Systems Partnership, led by Peter Lacey, to provide the modelling tool.
The aim of the work is to provide programme boards and organisations with a tool and information to help support transformation discussion and decisions that ultimately ensures the right workforce, in the right place, with the right skills (which specifically incorporates the commissioning of education to underpin this).
This work is concentrating on adult services using frailty metrics. It is working in collaboration with health and social care workforce planners to map the existing workforce whom provide direct care support. This will then be mapped across the proposed localities of the future models being outlined with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
The modelling tool will be available after this project, and discussions at the LETC Strategic Workforce Group will look to ensuring we can access and utilise this methodology for future workforce modelling.
