The Human Factors Exchange – Developing bespoke HFE solutions for the NHS
There is an increase in the need to identify patient safety related issues that can benefit from a Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) intervention, potentially improving outcomes at both the system and individual level.
Health Education England seeks to work in collaboration with NHS staff and Human Factors experts in order formulate pilot projects. These projects will aim to identify a critical patient safety related issue, implement an appropriate HFE solution, and evaluate its impact within the Trust.
Intelligence on the key healthcare challenges and data will inform the development of suitable HFE interventions and project evaluation, and it is anticipated that these project will demonstrate the value of HFE in addressing patient safety issues, support education programmes and enable system wide learning.
