Training & Education
HEE is playing a key part in developing modern multi-disciplinary teams in primary and community care. Our work in training the GPs of the future, expanding the clinical role of professions such as physician associates and clinical pharmacists and developing new roles including medical assistants, will help to shape the future workforce. This work encompasses three key strands:
• Recruit: Improving recruitment into general practice
• Retain: Retaining doctors within general practice
• Return: Supporting those who wish to return to general practice
Training & Education is currently focussing on three key areas including increasing the number of non-training practices to be developed for training, developing community education provider networks/education federations, GP nurse career and educational pathway development and increasing pre-registration placements in primary care.
